How to run an ad creative squad

An ad mission runs as a closed loop on the Marketing Squad. You draw the path in the mission goals: the channel, the offer, and the character limits. The Mission Commander works inside that path and assigns the variants and the test design to Spark. Steering is the approval step. Spark does not spend money and does not launch a campaign.

The squad you import

The template is the Marketing Squad, on /squads. The agent for this mission is Spark, Paid & Creative Lead. Spark writes ad copy variants per channel with the character limits respected, and designs an A/B test with a hypothesis and the metric that decides it.

Nova can order the work. Quill, Rank, and Metric stay off this mission unless the goals add a landing page, an SEO note, or a tracking plan. The template has no required connection. There is no ad-account connector on the squad page.

You do this in the xSquads desktop app, on a folder of your own files. Mac now, with Windows coming soon. The product page is xSquads for Work.

How the mission runs

Step 1. Import the Marketing Squad

Open the squad templates and import the Marketing Squad onto the mission. Keep Spark. Keep Nova if you want a short plan around the test. Remove Quill, Rank, and Metric if the goals are only the variants and the test design.

Step 2. Leave the connector list empty

This template has no required connection. Do not connect an ad account, treg, or Vapi. The squad page requires none of them. Spark drafts from the offer and the limits in your folder.

Step 3. Create the mission and set the goals

Create the mission and write the goals in plain language. Those goals are the path: the channel, the offer, the limit, and the metric that will decide the test. Point the mission at the local folder with the offer notes and any past ads you still stand behind. The commander does not get to widen that path. A goal you can start from, as written on the squad page: write five ad variants for LinkedIn within the limits. Add the test in the same goals: one hypothesis, and the single metric that decides it.

Step 4. Let the Mission Commander assign the work

Save the mission. The Mission Commander creates tasks on the task board and assigns them only inside the goals you wrote. Spark takes the five variants and the test design. Nova takes a card only if you kept the planning goal. Quill should not get a blog card, and Metric should not get a performance report, unless those jobs are in the goals.

Step 5. Add a task, steer, and approve before anything is launched

Steering is the approval step. Add a task on the board, or correct the Mission Commander in the group chat, when a variant should not run. A useful task to add yourself: cut variant four because the claim is not in the offer notes. Spark does not launch the ads and does not spend. Start by approving every variant and the test design.

How much to review

Start by approving everything. Autonomy is a dial, not a switch you flip because five lines fit the character limit.

Always sign off the offer, the limit, and the metric that decides the test. Raise the dial only when variants keep landing inside the claims you wrote down. A result number that is not in your folder goes back. xSquads does not run the auction.

What the goals have to name

  • The channel and the character limit. LinkedIn and five variants is the squad-page starting point. Name a different channel in the goals if that is the job.
  • The offer, and the claims Spark may use. Nothing else.
  • The hypothesis and the one metric that decides the test. Spark designs the test. You judge the result later, from your own ad account.
  • Spend, publishing, and launch stay with you. The squad drafts and does not send.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who writes the ad copy?

Spark, on the Marketing Squad. There is no separate ads template.

Can Spark launch the campaign?

No. Variants and the test design wait in Review. You launch them in your ad account. The squad does not spend.

Where do the character limits come from?

From the goals you write. The squad page says Spark respects the character limits. Put the number in the mission so the variants can be checked against it.

What is the A/B test in this squad?

A hypothesis and the metric that decides it, written down with the variants. It is a design, not a live test. You run the test after you approve the copy.

Do I connect an ad account first?

No. The Marketing Squad has no required connection. Put the offer notes in the folder. The account stays yours.
